SUPERNOVA 2014dy
     E. Matsumoto, T. Shibata, and N. Tominaga, Konan University; T. Morokuma,
Institute of Astronomy, University of Tokyo; M. Tanaka, National Astronomical
Observatory of Japan; S. Fukuda, Hyogo, Japan; M. Takeishi, Hokkaido, Japan;
and K. Tomita and R. Tomita, Aichi, Japan, on behalf of the Kiso Supernova
Survey (KISS) collaboration, report the discovery of an apparent supernova
(mag 18.8) on a g-band CCD image (limiting mag 20.6) taken on 2014 Dec.
19.38 UT with the Kiso Wide Field Camera (field-of-view 2.1 deg x 2.1 deg)
on the 1.05-m Kiso Schmidt telescope at the Kiso Observatory.  The new object
is located at R.A. = 2h48m57s.86, Decl. = -0d45'38".5 (equinox 2000.0), which
is 0".3 west and 0".2 north of a possible host galaxy at z = 0.075 (from the
Sloan Digital Sky Survey DR10).  Nothing is seen at this position in images
taken on 2014 Dec. 18.49 (limiting mag 19.3).

     E. Matsumoto, T. Shibata, and N. Tominaga, Konan University; N. Ukita,
H. Maehara, and M. Tanaka, National Astronomical Observatory of Japan; and T.
Morokuma, Institute of Astronomy, University of Tokyo, on behalf of the KISS
collabolation, report that an optical spectrogram of SN 2014dy was obtained on
2014 Dec. 23.48 UT with the Okayama 188-cm telescope (+ Kyoto Okayama Optical
Low-dispersion Spectrograph).  Cross-correlation with a library of supernova
spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry
2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) shows good matches with type-Ia supernovae around
maximum light.
