J. Drake, S. G. Djorgovski, M. J. Graham, A. A. Mahabal, and R. Williams, California Institute of Technology; J. L. Prieto, Princeton University; M. Catelan, Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile; and E. Christensen and S. M. Larson, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, University of Arizona, report the Catalina Real-time Transient Survey discovery of an apparent supernova in unfiltered Catalina Sky Survey (CSS) images: SN 2013 UT R.A. Cappellaro, P. Ochner, L. Tomasella, and M. Turatto, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova, Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica; and N. Blagorodnova, Institute of Astronomy, University of Cambridge, report that low-signal-to-noise optical spectroscopy (range 370-820 nm; resolution 1.4 nm) of 2013an, obtained on Feb. 9.19 UT with the Asiago 1.82-m Copernico Telescope (+ AFOSC), indicates that it was a very young type-II supernova. A blue, almost featureless continuum is seen. The only feature clearly detected is identified with a relatively broad H-alpha. From the position of the H_alpha line peak, a redshift z of about 0.014 is derived for the parent galaxy. The Asiago classification spectra are posted at the website URL http://graspa.oapd.inaf.it. Classification was made via GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A.Ap. 488, 383) and SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024).
