Lilly and R. J. Wainscoat report the discovery of a comet in four w-band exposures taken with the 1.8-m Pan-STARRS1 telescope at Haleakala on July 19.5 UT (discovery observations tabulated below), noting its image to have a full-width-at-half-maximum of 1".5 (vs. 0".9 for nearby stars), and adding that there is evidence of a short tail extending for approximately 2".5 towards position angle approximately 100 degrees. 2015 UT R.A. Micheli, and D. Woodworth with the 3.6-m Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope at Mauna Kea on July 20.47 show the object to be clearly cometary with a tail about 4" tail long in p.a. 100 deg and a clear coma visible with FWHM = 1".1 in 0".7 seeing; the red magnitude was given as 19.8-19.9. After the object was posted on the Minor Planet Center's PCCP webpage, A. Maury and J.-F. Soulier report that their unfiltered CCD images taken on July 21.12-21.19 UT with a 0.4-m f/8 Ritchey-Chretien reflector at San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, show a coma of size 15" x 17" with a likely tail toward p.a. 120 deg; they measured red mag 18.5-18.8 within an aperture of radius 6".2.
