Matsumoto, Konan University; T. Morokuma, Institute of Astronomy, University of Tokyo; N. Tominaga, Konan University; M. Tanaka, National Astronomical Observatory of Japan; T. Shibata, Konan University; and K. Mameta, Hyogo, Japan, on behalf of the Kiso Supernova Survey (KISS) collaboration, report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 18.5) on a g-band CCD image (limiting mag 20.7) taken on Sept. 16.46 UT with the Kiso Wide Field Camera (field-of-view 2.1 deg x 2.1 deg) on the 1.05-m Schmidt telescope at the Kiso Observatory. The new object is located at R.A. = 20h56m32s.41, Decl. = -0d32'47".1 (equinox 2000.0), which is 1".1 west and 1".5 south of a possible host galaxy (SDSS J205632.48-003245.5). Nothing is seen at this position in images taken on Aug. 21.72 (limiting mag 19.62). M. Stritzinger, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Aarhus University; and F. Taddia, Oskar Klein Centre, Stockholm University, on behalf of the KISS collaboration and the Carnegie Supernova Project, report that they obtained a visual-wavelength spectrogram of 2014dh on Sept. 17.9 UT with the Nordic Optical Telescope (+ Alfosc). The spectrum reveals the transient to be a normal type-Ia supernova at or around maximum light.
