Tomasella, S. Benetti, E. Cappellaro, A. Pastorello, P. Ochner, N. Elias-Rosa, and M. Turatto, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova, Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, report that an optical spectrogram (range 340-820 nm; resolution 1.3 nm) of PSN J07233339+5426302 = SN 2014Y (cf. CBET 3821), obtained on Mar. 8.95 UT with the Asiago 1.82-m Copernico Telescope (+ AFOSC), shows it to be a type-IIn supernova. Adopting for the presumed host galaxy a redshift z = 0.039 from the position of H_alpha, a good match is found with several type-IIn supernovae soon after explosion. A good fit is also found with the type-Ia/IIn supernova 2005gj (Aldering et al. 2006, Ap.J. 650, 510), especially if one allows for some reddening on the order of E(B-V) around 0.5. The Asiago classification spectra are posted at http://sngroup.oapd.inaf.it; classification was made via GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A.Ap. 488, 383) and SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024).
