Electronic Telegram No. 3742 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION CBAT Director: Daniel W. E. Green; Hoffman Lab 209; Harvard University; 20 Oxford St.; Cambridge, MA 02138; U.S.A. e-mail: cbatiau@eps.harvard.edu (alternate cbat@iau.org) URL http://www.cbat.eps.harvard.edu/index.html Prepared using the Tamkin Foundation Computer Network SUPERNOVA 2013gx Vladimir Lipunov, Sternberg Astronomical Institute, reports the discovery by P. Balanutsa of an apparent supernova (mag 17.8) on four 60-s unfiltered CCD survey images (limiting mag 19.0) obtained on Nov. 29.52578 UT with the 0.40-m f/2.5 MASTER-Tunka reflector. The new object is located at R.A. = 1h02m23s.27, Decl. = +20d33'21".2 (equinox 2000.0), which is 4" west and 12" south of the galaxy SDSS J010223.54+203333.1. Nothing was visible at this position on a reference image from 2011 Dec. 26.6 (limiting mag 20.0). The discovery and reference images are available at the following website URL: http://master.sai.msu.ru/static/OT/010223.27203321.2.jpg. L. Tartaglia, P. Ochner, L. Tomasella, A. Pastorello, S. Benetti, E. Cappellaro, N. Elias-Rosa, and M. Turatto, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova, Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, report that an optical spectrogram of 2013gx, obtained on Dec. 6.88 UT with the Asiago 1.82-m Copernico Telescope (+ AFOSC; range 340-820 nm; resolution 1.3 nm), shows that this is a type-II supernova at redshift z = 0.024. A good match is found with several normal type-IIP supernovae at about one month after the core-collapse. The expansion velocity deduced from the wavelength of the H-alpha absorption is about 6600 km/s. The Asiago classification spectra are posted at the following website URL: http://graspa.oapd.inaf.it. The classification was made via GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A.Ap. 488, 383) and SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024).
