Electronic Telegram No. 3610 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION CBAT Director: Daniel W. E. Valenti, Las Cumbres Observatory Global Telescope (LCOGT) and University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB); D. Sand, Texas Tech University; D. A. Howell and M. L. Graham, LCOGT/UCSB; and J. T. Parrent, LCOGT and Dartmouth College, report that a spectrogram (range 320-1000 nm) of PSN J20575390-5152245 = SN 2013ek (cf. CBET 3607), obtained robotically with the FLOYDS spectrograph on the "Faulkes Telescope South" at Siding Spring on July 25.42 UT, shows typical features of type-Ib/c supernovae. Fits to a library of spectra using the Superfit, Gelato, and SNID software indicate that 2013ek is likely a type-Ib supernova within a week of maximum light. Given the classification of the very nearby SN 2012im as a type-Ic supernova by PESSTO (see URL http://www.astronomerstelegram.org/?read=4300) and the spectrum of SN 2013ek, it is considered likely that these are two different objects.
