Tomasella, S. Benetti, E. Cappellaro, A. Pastorello, M. Turatto, P. Ochner, S. Valenti, and M. Fiaschi, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova, Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, report that inspection of a low-signal-to- noise-ratio CCD spectrum of 2012dv (cf. CBET 3191), obtained on July 27.04 UT with the Asiago 1.82-m Copernico Telescope (+ AFOSC; range 340-820 nm; resolution 2.4 nm), suggests that this is a type-Ia supernova. Cross- correlation with a library of supernova spectra via the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates that 2012dv has a redshift of about 0.07 and is similar to several type-Ia supernovae approximately one month past maximum brightness.
