J. Drake, S. G. Djorgovski, M. J. Graham, A. Mahabal, and R. Williams, California Institute of Technology; J. L. Prieto, Princeton University; M. Catelan, Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile; and S. M. Larson and E. Christensen, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, University of Arizona, report the discovery of an apparent supernova in unfiltered Catalina Sky Survey (CSS) images: SN 2012 UT R.A. (2000.0) Decl. Mag. 2012do June 20.24 13 56 35.28 + 4 46 52.3 17.5 Further CSS magnitudes for 2012do: May 22.33 UT, [18.9; June 13.23, 18.4. L. Tomasella, S. Benetti, E. Cappellaro, P. Ochner, A. Pastorello, M. Turatto, and S. Valenti, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova, Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, report that a spectrogram of 2012do, obtained on July 16.91 UT with the Asiago 1.82-m Copernico Telescope (+ AFOSC; range 340-820 nm; resolution 2.4 nm), suggests that it is a normal type-Ia supernova. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra via the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) shows that 2012do is similar to several normal type-Ia supernovae at about two weeks after maximum at a redshift about 0.054.
